Our History & Evolution
Three Decades of Service
Since 1995, FCVR has been at the forefront of addressing gender-based and relational violence in Aruba. For three decades, we have empowered thousands of survivors through direct services, community outreach, and policy advocacy.
Rebranding & Name Change (2020)
We changed our name from Fundacion pa Hende Muhe den Dificultad to Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional to better reflect our comprehensive approach. We help entire families experiencing relational violence, including children (17% of our clients) and men (3% of clients), while focusing primarily on women (80% of clients).
New Crisis Shelter (2021)
In June 2021, we opened our new crisis shelter, Cas Flamboyan, with 14 units, each equipped with comfortable beds and private bathrooms. This expansion allows us to serve more clients and meet international standards according to the Istanbul Convention.
Continuous Innovation
We've introduced a comprehensive shelter educational program with 12 meetings, implemented a custom CRM system for better client care, and established ourselves as Aruba's national center of expertise on relational violence.
Our survivor-centered approach has remained deeply rooted in safety, dignity, and long-term empowerment, evolving to meet the changing needs of our community while staying true to our core mission of helping build a more just and compassionate society for all.
